Good product, January 9, 2012 By H. Whalen

For this low of a cost this is a very nice product.

No problems so far. Shipping was fine, no damage.

No problem with assembly.

I added the oil and gas, and it started up on the second pull.

Runs smooth and slightly quieter than my lawn mower.

The wheels are a must have feature.

Plan on spending another couple of hundred dollars on extension cords - heavy gauge, 75-100 feet long each. ( a cost I didn't budget for. )

Put a copper coated grounding rod in the ground to be safe too. They sell them at hardware stores in 8' lengths by 5/8" diameter with a point on one end.

So far so good! And I do me GOOD!, November 22, 2011 By RWQ

I researched quite extensively many brands before I bought this generator. Truthfully I was all set to buy a different brand & model and at the last minute found this on Amazon thru Northern Tool. While I would have liked to have bought a bigger generator, I felt the pricing, options, small footprint for storage, and lower fuel consumption were all a big plus in my decision to go with this model. I have not filled it with oil or fuel yet, so I can't comment on the actual performance of it right now, but intend to. As far as the product itself, it arrived early and in perfect condition and appears to be of very good quality for the money. I can't wait to try it out! Hope I don't even need it this winter, but I'm ready if I do! It should handle our emergency needs quite well. Gas Furnace motor, Fridge & Freezer, TV & computer, some lights, a microwave and a coffee pot. What else do you REALLY need in an emergency. As long as the timing of use is thought out, this little gem should be a good fit and the money saved on this smaller unit will come in handy elsewhere. Right now I couldn't be happier with this generator.........after I start it up we shall see! Amazon.com came thru again, and Yellow Freight did a GREAT job on delivery. GO TEAMSTERS!

Filled with oil and put 2 gal. of gas in it. Turned fuel on, choked it, pulled the starter rope twice and it was purring like a kitten! Extremely quiet, and everything works as it should. I'm really happy with this purchase, but yesterday found that Menard's had a Honeywell 5500 w/ elec start reg price $729 on sale for $499...........would be the better buy now and had I not already bought this unit I would have gone the Menard's route. This Powerhorse 4000 is a GREAT little generator for the $369 price tag but after adding shipping, I wish I would have waited a week and bought the Honeywell 5500 at Menard's.

Generac 5626 GP7000E 8750-Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator with Electric Start

Generac 5626 GP7000E 8750-Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator with Electric Start Description

Safe, Quiet Operation with Overload-Protected Outlets
If security and quiet operation are important to you in a generator, then the 7,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal choice. Its four 120-volt outlets and single 120/240-volt 30 Amp twist lock outlet are circuit-breaker protected, guarding against power overloads and allowing the generator to smoothly send power to your appliances. And the low-tone muffler means the generator runs at a comfortable noise level that easily blends into the background.

Features
  •     Steel fuel tank with incorporated fuel gauge
  •     Locking fold-down handles and wheel kit
  •     Hour meter with maintenance resets
  •     8,750 Surge-Watt/7,000 Rated-Watt
  •     Non-CARB Compliant/Not For Sale In California

Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances

The 7,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start supplies 7,000 output watts and 8,750 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz.

For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric stoves, as well as window A/C units and sump pumps. For construction and landscaping applications, it's enough to support large devices such as lawn mowers, belt sanders, and table saws. And for camping and outdoor events, it can run portable stereos, outdoor lights, and electric grills.

A Durable Power Supply Wherever You Need It

The Generac 7,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal portable generator to have at home, on the job site, or wherever you need power. Its compact frame--33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 inches (LxWxH)--is fitted with never-flat wheels and locking fold-down handles, so it can easily accompany you wherever you go. And with its hardened steel-tube cradle, this rugged generator holds up well for frequent travel, allowing you to look forward to years of operation. Plus, this model features an electric ignition for fast, easy start-up.

Thanks to its versatile design, the 7,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start adds comfort and possibility to any situation. Use it to keep your family safe and well-equipped through unexpected blackouts, add some fun and luxury to a camping trip, or make construction jobs faster and easier.

Featuring a compact, wheeled frame for easy transport, the Generac 7,000-Watt Portable Gas-Powered Generator with Electric Start provides a reliable power supply wherever you need it. A Generac OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine delivers performance and power, while a sturdy steel-tube cradle protects the generator's exterior. For safe and comfortable use, the circuit-breaker outlets prevent power overloads, and the low-tone muffler makes for ultra quiet operation.

A Low-Maintenance, High-Performance OHVI Engine

Designed specifically for generators, the 7,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start's heavy-duty 410-cc OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine boasts host of features. An exclusive X-Torq governor maximizes the engine's performance to keep it running without stalls. And so engine components continue moving smoothly, a pressurized lubrication system sends oil directly to critical areas.

Thanks to this full-pressure lubrication system, the engine can employ an automotive-grade, spin-on oil filter that sifts out dirt and other unwanted substances. The oil filter works alongside a dual-element air filter. Together, the two keep engine performance at a maximum and maintenance at a minimum.

Plus, this generator's sturdy, eight-gallon steel tank ensures a full 11 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. And with the tank's built-in fuel gauge, you can monitor fuel levels at a glance. Generac even provides you with your first supply of oil.

This generator is backed by a two-year limited warranty.

For Want of a Nail, the Horse was Lost...But It Works Fine
, September 7, 2011 By Dr. Terrence McGarty (Florham Park, NJ)

I use this as an office back up power supply. The basic unit works well, but beware.

For the battery starter model the battery charger is a cheap as could be. The rest of the unit holds up well. The charger is frankly a piece of junk. First the connector to the side is always coming unattached. Second, the battery charger breaks at the connector interface making it unusable. Then when you ask Generac for a replacement they send you to dealers who have no idea what you are asking for since it is not part of the product.

It is a shame that so much good engineering is spoiled by some incompetent decision to put a cheap part in a critical path and then to disregard the customer totally. Then again it is American engineering. Perhaps a Japanese product would pay attention to detail. It is detail that counts.

Generac should also try to deal with its customers better, especially using the Internet rather than shoving the customer off to some dealer which is some fifty to 100 miles distant, and I am just outside New York City!

The solution is to get a stand alone 12 v charger and use that directly on the battery.

Now an update. We just had a 50+ hour blackout in New Jersey (October 2011) and the generator functioned like a charm. I have the unit outside, covered and away from the premises and it went for almost all of the period. Power was reliable and steady.

I used about 15 gallons of gas for the 50 hours, load was modest, but the voltage was fairly level and no surge issues. The unit is easy to start and as long as you follow directions quite easy to maintain.

The only problem running is to have adequate fuel supply and I had to top it off about ever six hours. I use it to run 6 circuits, 2 20W and four 15 W circuits, two of which were done for repairs on the loads so I used only four.

It is a bit noisy but it is a motor generator set. Noise inside is modest and there were no complaints, but near the unit the noise level is high.

Well worth having. Just a nit on the battery charger. I also change oil every fifty hours as well.

Well built American made generator
, April 24, 2011 By Richard L Ellis Jr (Scarsdale, NY United States)

The Generac 5626 GP7000E is very well made and has never failed to start. Made in the USA, the capacity is as advertised, unlike foreign made units who over promise on size. The Generac engine is very reliable.

Excellent Portable Generator, November 13, 2010 By Mark J. Brunet (Lowville, NY USA)
(REAL NAME)

Delivery of the Generac GP7000E was fast and the curbside delivery by the carrier was excellent. They brought the generator up onto my front porch. (not something they do all the time). The generator is sturdy and well made. As a handyman I liked the fact that most of the important maintenance parts are easily assessable (oil filter, spark plug etc.)

Some assembly is required for the frame (handles, wheels etc.). The diagrams were hard to read mainly because some important illustrations are head on drawings rather than showing front and rear). However it's not hard to figure out.

After filling with the supplied oil and hooking up the battery wire to the starting coil (it's tagged with a illustration in the manual) I filled it with 5 gallons of gas with a fuel stabilizer. In today's age of methanol/gasoline mixtures I feel this is a must.

I then started it up with two short pushes of the power switch.

The sound is tolerable as almost all generators are somewhat loud. I then tested it under load through my transfer switch and it did very well.

The next day I tested the recoil start. Here it took me six or seven pulls to start it. The good news though is the recoil start is positioned in such a way as it pulls straight without obstruction. This was not always true on older Generac models where the frame sometimes made a straight pull difficult. It was also easy to pull and not the strenuous heart attack pulls needed on older models.

My only complaints are trivial. I do not like the start button at the back of the machine ,near the choke , nor do I like the fact it is a black button on a black field. You can stare straight at it and not see it.

The manual leaves a bit to be desired.

Also , this machine does not charge the battery when it runs. It does however come with a 120 volt charger. This however only makes sense if you routinely check the battery. Obviously in a power failure situation with an undercharged battery it would not be of only use.

Overall I believe this portable generator is very well made and highly recommended.

I have owned and used much more expensive and more notable generators and believe it compares favorably.

Generac Generator
, September 13, 2010 By jdefranc

I have noted that I "like" this item, but I really don't know yet. The generator arrived with a leaking gas tank and a fuel gauge that does not work. We found a dealer that could look at the generator and hopefully repair it. It's been three weeks now and still no repair. I do hope that the generator will be repaired soon and in good working order for us. The Generac name was highly recommended. Perhaps the generator was damaged during shipment and it may be better to purchase something like this from a local dealer.

Generac GP7000E, January 31, 2010 By Stephen E. Tharp (Yukon, Oklahoma)
(REAL NAME)

Unit was very easy to put together (wheels and handles). Connected the battery lead, put in oil, gas and it started right up. Battery was charged from the factory. It does come with a AC charger for the battery that plugs into the front of the generator panel. I wish it was a trickle charger but it said to only leave it plugged in for max of 48 hours. It does have a pull start backup.

Bought it in combo with the GenTran 3028K 30 Amp 8-Circuit Transfer Switch/Power on Amazon. The manual transfer switch kit came with 25ft generator cord, plugs and everything I needed to connect to my load center. I can run 10 circuits and almost everything in my house except the AC. Ran it for about 8 hours with partial load on one tank of gas.

The generator arrived in about a week and performed as specified. I bought a lawnmower powered by Briggs and Stratton in 1987. It continues to start with one pull and that was the deciding factor when chosing a generator. I live rural, in the mountains of Western North Carolina where trees fall with every storm. The generator is supplying power to the house and a well pump that is 600 feet deep and 300 distance from the house.

Wonderful generator, December 11, 2011 By Lillie M. Yancey "nurseyancey" (Broadview,IL)
(REAL NAME)

I called a electrican to have this installed on my patio, for use when we have a power outage. The electrician told me this is one of the better generators and would serve my purpose wonderful. This generator was shipped to me very fast and it was not expensive to ship to me. It is very well built and will certainly last me a lifetime. I am very glad I bought it.

GREAT BUY, May 10, 2011 By jane

My husband loves his new generator. He was able to run all appliances in the camper and the air conditioner. No Problems. Very quiet. Generators at other department stores were more costly and less efficient. We received this product within a week after purchase. Great Product, we are very pleased.

The Power Pro 4050 Power Generator, April 1, 2011 By tazmand_devil

To whom it may concern: I just purchased one of these generators on April 1st, 2011 at Menards. I was skeptical about buying it because it looked cheap. But I could not pass it up for the price, It was the display model so I got it for $199.00 + tax.

It regularly ran $349.99 so I figured I would try it out. I took it home and filled it with oil and gas, It pulled very easy and it fired up on the 3rd pull. I let the generator run for 1 hour and 3 minutes, It never cut out and when I started the circular saw the CFL lights barely flickered. I also plugged in our 9 inch TV/DVD player just to see if it would have static on it while the generator was running, Not at all. And compared to the 4,000 watt generator I have that's about 15 to 20 years old it is extemely much quieter. I also like the fuel gauge in the top of the tank.

The gas tank will hold 3.1 gallons of gas, And it is stated that a half load will run on the generator for 10 hours that is impressive since my old generator will run a couple of hours on a gallon and a half. I'm sure this generator is NOT the best that is made But it works for what we need. Also there is the low oil shut off and a digital hour meter.I bought a coleman powermate 5,000 watt generator with a 10hp Techumseh engine from menard's on sale for $500.00 + tax, Never Again!!!! those generators are Junk!!! and a gas hog! I did the maintence as required and I went out one day to start it for the monthly run and it was locked up tight. It had less than 100 hours on it. Also It was loud enough that you could hear it it a mile away idling.

Great buy, August 19, 2010 By kantra

I got this the other day and pluged my 5th wheel camper into it and turned everything on, A/C Microwave, fridg, and lights still had plenty of power left. And you cannot beat the price.

This thing rocks! I hope the power goes out!, January 10, 2012 By Andrew Kitzberger (New Ulm, MN United States)

I have been searching and hunting all over for the most bang for your buckI didn't get this from amazon, but brand new from a small engine shop as someone traded it in, never used, not even oil in it on a snowblower.... I filled it with gas and oil at the shop and wham!--popped right off and began to purr. Over the next couple of weeks I have used it to power a circ saw, miter saw and a couple compressors at the same time and it doesn't even flinch. It's even pretty quite as far as larger generators go. I had some questions about the generator, needed a manual and such and emailed the company and in about 2 hours I was talking with a sales rep and had my questions answered. I can't saw enough good things about this generator and westinghouse thus far.

Sturdy, Well-Made, January 19, 2012 By Jet Shine

I bought this generator following the "Snowtober" storm that hit New England and knocked my power out for 3 days. I went with this model due to the electric start and 3-year warranty. First impressions were good; the generator comes well-packed in a nice box. Assembly is minimal, consisting only of attaching the wheels, legs, and handles; then for prep, you put in the motor oil (included) and attach the battery (included). Honeywell also includes a battery charger, a nice touch which wasn't mentioned in the description. Once it's all together, it looks good, is nicely finished, and feels sturdy; the materials used seem high-quality. The electric start works well; I've started it up once every few weeks since I got it, it fires right up every time. There are nice clear instructions in a placard attached to the gas tank, as well as a laminated card that comes attached to the frame, which are both nice touches.

The one concern I have with mine is that the engine speed surges (speeding up and slowing down) when not under load; I don't know if this is normal or not. It seems to do it less when there is a load connected. I can see the governor spring moving when this happens. But it seems to work ok... I had the generator connected to the house via a transfer switch, and everything connected was working (fridge, furnace, well pump, lights).

I'm a little disappointed that at this price point it doesn't include an auto-throttle feature, which means it only runs at one engine speed no matter what the load; competing generators with this feature can slow down the engine when the load is lower, resulting in less noise and fuel consumption.

There is a fairly big, beefy-looking muffler, but it's still loud. It seemed about as loud as a friend's 10-year-old Honda generator, so I guess the noise level is good... for a generator anyway.

Solid Unit, Reasonable Price, October 17, 2011 By Lawrence Sterne

I originally thought I'd go for a "whole house" solution but when I realized the cost I got serious and started to figure out what we really needed. After all, the power doesn't go out *that* often. We run a small business out of the house and the internet (which is also our phone) is our lifeline, so we needed to keep going at least 4 computers, monitors and peripheral equipment, routers, wifi, charging stations, etc. Of course, we wanted to power the refrigerator and freezer, heat, some lights and "quality of life" items like a hair dryer and coffee pot (Reliance has a good list of loads in its transfer switch owners manual). 5,550 watts looked about right -- somewhat less than I would have guessed.

Having settled on a size, it became just an issue of price/features. We liked this unit because it was well priced and had electric start (ever try to start a gasoline engine in the freezing cold?). It turned out to be smaller than I expected, and better looking. Setup was a breeze -- just put on the wheels, handles for maneuvering, fill `er up with the provided oil, connect the provided battery, and add some gasoline. Started right away.

I also installed a Reliance 50 amp transfer switch and outlet which gave me 8 circuits to play with. Installation was a snap, well within the abilities of anyone reasonably handy, though if you have *any* doubts you should consult an electrician. We've only had one outage since installation and everything worked as expected, running all except the boiler, which wasn't called for. The watt gauges on the transfer switch indicated we were well within limits, and the generator supplied peak loads no problem. The generator -- like most -- is a little noisy. You could spend *a lot* more for a quiet Honda, but, how often does the power go out? Overall, a solid unit that should meet most needs at a reasonable cost.

This All Power 6500 Watt Diesel Generator is a powerful diesel generator with durability and undeniable muscle. Take this generator camping, tailgating or use for backup power in your house or mobile home. Its peak power of 6500 watts makes the APG3201N powerful, with a 4-stroke Air Cooled diesel engine with electric push start and recoil start.

Portable and powerful without disturbing anyone

The APG3201N will last for 11 hours at 1/2 load and only requires 3.3 gallons of unleaded gasoline. This makes it easy to use and transport. Just fill the easily-accessible gas tank and turn it on and it's ready to go.

Features:

  •     Electric Push Start and Recoil Start
  •     10 Horse Power 418CC
  •     Produces 50 amps at 120V, 25 amps at 250V, 60Hz
  •     Peak power: 6500W
  •     Rated Power: 5000W
  •     Low Operating Noise: 76dB
  •     2-AC Duplex 120V Outlets
  •     EPA Approved
  •     Includes Mobility Kit with 8-inch

You won't get arrested for stealing this diesel generator! Ok, you need a big rig to keep the lights and appliances burning. You've looked around and been shocked by some prices exceeding $5,000! You know that a diesel generator means longer life and greater fuel economy. You just didn't know what unit to buy...until now! We're a new company and we really wanted to make a statement so we went to the All Power America factory and asked for a special deal! Boy, were we surprised! They offered us the APG-3201 6500 watt peak, 5000 watt diesel generator at a price so low we almost couldn't believe it. Don't peak yet! Wait until you read hat you get for your money! Here we have an open air diesel engine mounted in a square steel frame. (Square steel is important because it's about 40% stronger than tubular steel and will therefore withstand all the engine vibrations while still maintaining the unit's integrity). Next, when you get to a larger generator, you must have electric start unless you are really strong. Some companies offer the starter, but you have to then go out and buy a battery. This unit has both the starter and the battery included. The APG-3101 will operate for about 11 hours on just four gallons of diesel fuel, has two 120V and one 240V outlet, includes a mobility kit with pneumatic tires and a fold down tine and easy to read gauges, outlets and controls. Now you can look at the price! Such a deal!

All Power 6500W Generator seems excellent value!, August 15, 2007 By Carl F. Leweke (Houston, TX)
(REAL NAME)

I wasn't sure what I would get with a price that seemed too low to believe, but figured I would take a chance. I needed to find an alternative to my small gasoline powered generator which is now over ten years old with minimal usage. Gas is such a pain, as I stock up for hurricanes and end up dumping it back through my cars to get rid of it before it goes bad; diesel is very stable with some additives, much safer to store a dozen-or-so gallons long term, and provides more energy per gallon.

I had never heard of All Power before, but it seems they make a variety of products--hopefully an "up and coming" that will be around for a long time if they can establish a rep as a company with quality and service which it appears they are trying to do. So far, I am extremely happy with what I have gotten for my money. Shipping was a breeze and they placed it right where my wife told them inside my garage until I got home. No instructions for basic construction of adding wheels etc but not really needed either for anyone with basic mechanical ability. The manual seems extremely well written for a Chinese product--I was initially impressed by that.

After the first startup (for which I needed to use the electric start), it starts manually on the first pull every time! Fit and finish quality appear excellent and no shortcuts on construction. Nice features include a fuel tank gauge, run-hours meter, 120v/240v selector, and electric start; 3 and 4 prong twist power plugs were included too. The 6-wheels (2 pneumatic + 4 small rollers) make it pretty easy to move around, though there is definitely some weight associated with a generator set this large. The engine is made by Changfa, generally recognized as an excellent Chinese company with a real understanding of quality control. As an emergency generator, it will take a long time to put real serious hours on it--it only remains to be seen how long it would stand up to continuous operation if needed; hopeful that proper maintainance will yield long service.

Awesome Generator, November 7, 2011 By Cliff

We recently purchased the XG7000E Generac generator after Hurricane Irene. It was very easy to assible, just had to attach the wheels and add oil (which was included). I tested it a few times under load with no problems. Just recently we lost power of 7 days due to a snow storm. We logged 90.2 hours on the generator...ran it up to 10 hours without shutting it down. This machine worked perfectly, powered everything in the house (I even did a load of laundry...but did not use the dryer). Best investment we've ever made!
I would highly recommend this unit!

I have only ran this for a few minutes to test it. Runs great. Does sound like a riding mower but...it is a big motor. Easy to assemble...the instructions were fine. I had my concerns on previous comments. I wish they had of told me that everything was already hooked up because I went through the start of the book and had to unhook and find everything just to see it was already there. Just add gas,oil and connect the battery (and it has a tag hanging off of it to connect). Seems like a very solid machine with alot of options. So far I am very impressed!!!

We recently lost power for five days in NorCal due to wind. I ran the generator pretty much non-stop the whole time, and it runs great. It's a bit loud, but pretty energy efficient with about 12 hours on a tank (3.96 gals). For the price, I'd definitely recommend it.

Excellent! But Be Warned about this unit

This product works just as it says it will but what it does not say it the gotcha! I thought I was going to be able to plug in what ever I needed to use in a power failure and it would work fine. WRONG!

This unit does not create a clean wave of electric so you cannot use it to power Computers or TVs etc. When you are looking for a generator, don't make my mistake, look to see if it lists types of devices it will power and if it is "clean" power, it will mention computers and LCD TVs. Also check with the manufacturer and ask them if the electric is a clean wave or not. If no, the generator will work fine for thing like you refrigerator and lights but NOT electronics.

This unit is very reliable with plenty of power. Easy to start and easy to run. Only thing is that the oil is easy to overfill but other than that great machine.

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start

To determine whether a generator is appropriate for your needs, you need to first add up the wattage of tools, appliances, and motors you want to run at the same time. Then select a generator with the running wattage rating to match or exceed the total load.

Keep in mind that tools and appliances with electric motors require additional surge wattage at startup that can be double or triple the normal running wattage requirement. Look at the surge watts required and make sure you choose a generator with enough additional wattage to start them. (And remember that you're typically not starting more than half of the items at the same time.)

Generator, February 2, 2012 By vram

Very nice small generator. Tested it with well pump (240v), furnace and refrigs worked great but cannot power all at same time. Put oil and gas in it and it started immediately. The electric start is great. The only down side is the oil plug for adding oil is way up under everything and making is difficult to fill.

The generator was delivered in a timely fashion and arrived in good condition.
Once I followed the turn on instructions and hooked up the battery the unit started
right up. I used it in a recent black out and it was a pleasure to have lights and internet.
I'm glad I purchaed it.

Great Product for the Price, December 29, 2011 By David J. Luddy "David James Luddy"

The first unit arrived with some damage to the box,but the foam inside was not damaged. Took the generator out and noticed fluid in the bottom of the box, the frame was bent and there was damage to the motor itself. I called the seller and was told I would be called back by the claims department when they opened. They did call me back and I explained the damage. I was told to box it all back up and Fedex would pick it up the next day and that a new generator would be shipped out. The next unit arrived in about a week, no damage to the box. I could tell by the way it was boxed that they had checked the entire unit before shipping it. I put the wheels and stand on and the handles. Filled it with oil and a small amount of gas, connected the negative battery terminal and it started right off the first time with the electric start. I plugged in a fan and a table saw and everything worked just fine. My only complaint is the instructions for putting the wheels on are not very explicit, but if you look at the picture of the generator it is pretty obvious what goes where. I am very pleased with the seller and the customer service was excellent. I would reccomend this generator to anybody who needs one for power outages. I just hope I never have to use it.

Generator, December 29, 2011 By Sherry

Great purchase....came very quickly, easy to set up; rolls easily and started up with electric start first try! Ran quietly - tried pull start just to make sure it worked, started on 2nd pull..

Still Waiting to Power Up, December 26, 2011 By Daddyo314

Updated 12/31/11:Original review was 2 star only because product received was incorrect. After calling to Amazon.com, I received a replacement within 3 days. Got it together and up and running today. Though directions are not totally clear, and I am not real sure about the grounding process, the generator worked as promised. Two pulls to get it going, then battery and starter worked as it was supposed to. Only limited items run, but should work to meet my needs in an emergency. I would give the product a 5 star at this time.

2-star rating is only a starting point. Not sure about the final rating on this product yet; haven't been able to test officially. Ordered what was to be a NEW generator. I officially received it yesterday as a Christmas gift. Planned on getting it running today, but after opening the box, it was obvious that the generator was a used or refurbished product. It was packed pretty well, but there were numerous scrapes and dents on the unit, and oil had leaked out into the box/packaging. Some oil was still inside oil compartment and on dipstick when cap to that compartment was opened. Since the unit is not supposed to be shipped with any oil in it, that would also tell me this was either used or re-furbished, and not what I ordered. I called Amazon.com, and they couldn't have been nicer. They said they would send a new unit. Unfortunately, it may take up to 7-10 days for delivery. Once I actually receive the generator and get it running (hopefully), I will update rating, and overall experience. In the meantime, I did review the manual for wheel kit, and the generator itself, and believe some directions could have been a little clearer.

So far so good, December 7, 2011 By lengksar

We purchased this generator after the last 4 day power outage and have not needed to use it yet. The directions are very poor. It took a while to figure out what parts to take off and where to put others.

Overall, it seems to work ok, we have tested it on a few appliances with good results.

I HAVE PURCHASED 2 OF THESE IN THE PAST YEAR AND PLAN ON A THIRD. WE ARE USEING THEM FOR BACK UP POWER ON 3 HOMES. THEY HAVE PLENTY OF POWER TO RUN ALL OUR REFRIDGERATORS FREEZER PUMP AND LIGHTS IN THE HOUSE. WE HAVE THEM WIRED SO WE CAN JUST PLUG INTO THE PANEL AND BACK FEED INTO THE HOUSE. THEY WORK AWSOME.
