DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start

To determine whether a generator is appropriate for your needs, you need to first add up the wattage of tools, appliances, and motors you want to run at the same time. Then select a generator with the running wattage rating to match or exceed the total load.

Keep in mind that tools and appliances with electric motors require additional surge wattage at startup that can be double or triple the normal running wattage requirement. Look at the surge watts required and make sure you choose a generator with enough additional wattage to start them. (And remember that you're typically not starting more than half of the items at the same time.)

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start Description

The XP4400E includes two 120-volt, 20-amp standard household outlets to supply power to all of your appliances as well as a powerful 120/240-volt, 30-amp twist lock outlet for high-powered tools. A 12-volt DC output with leads functions as a charger for batteries and other rechargeable devices. Overloads are never a problem with its dual 15-amp circuit breaker. A volt meter allows you to monitor your generator's output range at all times, and the battery charge indicator light lets you know when the generator's starter battery is charging.

The exclusive DuroMax RV Switch (voltage selector) allows you to get maximum power from each of the 120-volt receptacles as well as choose between operating the generator at both 120 and 240 volts simultaneously, or at 120 only with full power.

With the electric start, it's as simple to get this generator going as turning on your car. And if the battery isn't fully charged, you can use the single-pull recoil cord to start the generator.

The XP4400E features a heavy duty steel frame roll cage with four-point fully isolated motor mounts for smooth and quiet operation. This generator is also easily portable thanks to the wheel kit with large, all-terrain knobby tires that will never deflate and a flip-up, stow-away handle. You'll get up to 8 hours of run time (at 50 percent) from a 4-gallon tank of fuel. Other features include an advanced automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system and a low oil protection system which automatically shuts the generator off to protect it from any damage should it run out of oil. It's backed by a one-year limited warranty.

This rugged workhorse is ideal for the jobsite where powering saws, drills, and other equipment is critical, but you can also depend on it for emergencies at home--insuring your essential appliances are running smoothly, reliably, and without interruption. It's EPA approved with a rating of 69 dBA for quiet operation thanks to its super-quiet muffler, and it's also safe to use in U.S. National Parks thanks to the super quiet exhaust with spark arrestor.

Generator, February 2, 2012 By vram

Very nice small generator. Tested it with well pump (240v), furnace and refrigs worked great but cannot power all at same time. Put oil and gas in it and it started immediately. The electric start is great. The only down side is the oil plug for adding oil is way up under everything and making is difficult to fill.

Great generator, January 28, 2012 By  Richard Comins "gadget lover" (New Jersey)

The generator was delivered in a timely fashion and arrived in good condition.
Once I followed the turn on instructions and hooked up the battery the unit started
right up. I used it in a recent black out and it was a pleasure to have lights and internet.
I'm glad I purchaed it.

Great Product for the Price, December 29, 2011 By David J. Luddy "David James Luddy"

The first unit arrived with some damage to the box,but the foam inside was not damaged. Took the generator out and noticed fluid in the bottom of the box, the frame was bent and there was damage to the motor itself. I called the seller and was told I would be called back by the claims department when they opened. They did call me back and I explained the damage. I was told to box it all back up and Fedex would pick it up the next day and that a new generator would be shipped out. The next unit arrived in about a week, no damage to the box. I could tell by the way it was boxed that they had checked the entire unit before shipping it. I put the wheels and stand on and the handles. Filled it with oil and a small amount of gas, connected the negative battery terminal and it started right off the first time with the electric start. I plugged in a fan and a table saw and everything worked just fine. My only complaint is the instructions for putting the wheels on are not very explicit, but if you look at the picture of the generator it is pretty obvious what goes where. I am very pleased with the seller and the customer service was excellent. I would reccomend this generator to anybody who needs one for power outages. I just hope I never have to use it.

Generator, December 29, 2011 By Sherry

Great purchase....came very quickly, easy to set up; rolls easily and started up with electric start first try! Ran quietly - tried pull start just to make sure it worked, started on 2nd pull..

Still Waiting to Power Up, December 26, 2011 By Daddyo314

Updated 12/31/11:Original review was 2 star only because product received was incorrect. After calling to, I received a replacement within 3 days. Got it together and up and running today. Though directions are not totally clear, and I am not real sure about the grounding process, the generator worked as promised. Two pulls to get it going, then battery and starter worked as it was supposed to. Only limited items run, but should work to meet my needs in an emergency. I would give the product a 5 star at this time.

2-star rating is only a starting point. Not sure about the final rating on this product yet; haven't been able to test officially. Ordered what was to be a NEW generator. I officially received it yesterday as a Christmas gift. Planned on getting it running today, but after opening the box, it was obvious that the generator was a used or refurbished product. It was packed pretty well, but there were numerous scrapes and dents on the unit, and oil had leaked out into the box/packaging. Some oil was still inside oil compartment and on dipstick when cap to that compartment was opened. Since the unit is not supposed to be shipped with any oil in it, that would also tell me this was either used or re-furbished, and not what I ordered. I called, and they couldn't have been nicer. They said they would send a new unit. Unfortunately, it may take up to 7-10 days for delivery. Once I actually receive the generator and get it running (hopefully), I will update rating, and overall experience. In the meantime, I did review the manual for wheel kit, and the generator itself, and believe some directions could have been a little clearer.

So far so good, December 7, 2011 By lengksar

We purchased this generator after the last 4 day power outage and have not needed to use it yet. The directions are very poor. It took a while to figure out what parts to take off and where to put others.

Overall, it seems to work ok, we have tested it on a few appliances with good results.
