Generac 4583 Ultra Source 17,500 Watt Portable Generator (CARB Compliant)

Generac 4583 Ultra Source 17,500 Watt Portable Generator (CARB Compliant) Description

The Guardian Ultra Source 17,500 watt portable generator is one of the most powerful portable generator on the market. Powered by a 992 cc Generac OHV V-Twin Industrial Engine 992 cc industrial grade engine, a powerhouse that's renowned for its reliability, long life, impressive power and smooth, quiet operation, this generator provides enough power to start a 5-ton air conditioning unit.

This engine offers the finest lubrication technology available by providing instantaneous disbursement of lubricant to all engine parts. It also features a spin-on oil filter, which is an automotive style for easy maintenance. It also offers one of the longest life expectancies in the industry, with over 3,000 hours of runtime. Guardian Ultra Source portable generators feature an electronic governor, which maintains steady speed and eliminates voltage drop when loads are applied. This, as well as the automatic voltage regulator, provides a smooth rate of electricity, which is especially important for sensitive electronic devices such as computers.

For added convenience and safety when you need it most, the generator comes with a pre-wired 16-circuit, 60 Amp indoor rated manual transfer switch, power cord and outdoor connection box. This makes it easy to use it to supply power during an outage. With up to 16 selected circuits already pre-wired to the transfer switch, all that's required is to start the generator and plug it in. By flipping a single switch, the utility is locked out and the load is transferred to the generator.

A large, 16-gallon capacity fuel tank give the generator a 10-hour run-time at half-load capacity, ensuring you have the power you need. An easy electric start eliminates the need to pull a rope. A simple push of the ignition and an automatic ignition timing sets the spark for easy starting and optimum operating performance. The generator runs on gasoline and meets all EPA emissions requirements.

To keep your electrical equipment running, the generator includes nine outlets, including a 50 Amp high power outlet, three twistlock plugs and two GFCI protected duplex outlets. The generator also includes heavy-duty 13-inch all terrain tires, ensuring that you'll get the power to where you need it the most, a full 1.25-inch tubular frame, battery charge cables and a maintenance-free battery. The generator measures 38.5-by-30.75-by-48.5 inches (HxWxL), weighs 525 pounds and is backed with a 2-year limited warranty.

Generac 5625 GP7000 7,000 Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator

Generac 5625 GP7000 7,000 Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator Description

Featuring a compact, wheeled frame for easy transport, the Generac 7,000-Watt Portable Gas-Powered Generator provides a reliable power supply wherever you need it. A Generac OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine delivers performance and power, while a sturdy steel-tube cradle protects the generator's exterior. For safe and comfortable use, the circuit-breaker outlets prevent power overloads, and the low-tone muffler makes for ultra quiet operation.

A Low-Maintenance, High-Performance OHVI Engine
Designed specifically for generators, the Generac 7,000-Watt Generator's heavy-duty 410-cc OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine boasts a host of features. An exclusive X-Torq governor maximizes the engine's performance to keep it running without stalls. And to keep engine components operating smoothly, a pressurized lubrication system sends oil directly to critical areas.

Thanks to this full-pressure lubrication system, the engine can employ an automotive-grade, spin-on oil filter that sifts out dirt and other unwanted substances. The oil filter works alongside a dual-element air filter. Together, the two keep engine performance at a maximum and maintenance at a minimum.

Plus, this generator's sturdy, eight-gallon steel tank ensures a full 11 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. And with the tank's built-in fuel gauge, you can monitor fuel levels at a glance. Generac even provides you with your first supply of oil.

Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances
The Generac 7,000-Watt Generator supplies 7,000 output watts and 8,750 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz.

For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric stoves, as well as window A/C units and sump pumps. For construction and landscaping applications, it's enough to support large devices such as lawn mowers, belt sanders, and table saws. And for camping and outdoor events, it can run portable stereos, outdoor lights, and electric grills.

(Note: All appliances should be checked for actual wattage ratings.)

Safe, Quiet Operation with Overload-Protected Outlets
If security and quiet operation are important to you in a generator, then the Generac 7,000-Watt Generator is an ideal choice. Its four 120-volt outlets and single 120/240-volt 30 Amp twist lock outlet are circuit-breaker protected, guarding against power overloads and allowing the generator to smoothly send power to your appliances. And the low-tone muffler means the generator runs at a comfortable noise level that easily blends into the background.

This generator is backed by a two-year limited warranty.

A Durable Power Supply Wherever You Need It
The Generac 7,000-Watt Generator is an ideal portable generator to have at home, on the job site, or wherever you need power. Its compact frame--33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 inches (LxWxH)--is fitted with never-flat wheels and locking fold-down handles, so it can easily accompany you wherever you go. And with its hardened steel-tube cradle, this rugged generator holds up well for frequent travel, allowing you to look forward to years of operation.

Thanks to its versatile design, this generator adds comfort and possibility to any situation. Use it to keep your family safe and well-equipped through unexpected blackouts, add some fun and luxury to a camping trip, or make construction jobs faster and easier.

Great generator so far, November 8, 2011 By K

I ordered this generator during the recent power outage in the Northeast. Got it directly from Amazon and it arrived quickly. Set it up and had an electrician come hook it up directly, it powered all the lights in our house, a TV (and cable box), our well pump, furnace, refrigerator, etc all at the same time. Enough watts to power most of the house. It started right up and ran great through the 3 days we used it.

Generac generator, October 20, 2011 By Angel

Love this generator! Definitely gives my wife and I peace of mind owning one. Does it's job! We shopped for quite some time looking for a deal. Amazon was the best deal we found. We are happy!

Easy to put together, comes with everything you need, started right up!, September 26, 2011 By G. Hourihan "RuneCreations" (CT, USA)
(REAL NAME)

Well it comes pretty much all together you just need to put on the wheels and handle bars (no biggy). I put in the supplied oil, filled it with Gas and on the second pull it started right up (probably would have started on the first but the gas needed to get in there). I haven't used it for long so I can't comment on its longevity but my one qualm about it is that the motor does not seem to be a brand name as far as I can. There are no really apparent labels on it which would lead me to believe it is not a briggs or kawi or....

Does the Job - but it is LOUD!, August 31, 2011 By Kim (NJ, USA)

Purchased this item the day before Hurricane Irene since all box store shelves here at the NJ shore were empty and it looked like a CAT 2 was headed straight for us. Amazon Prime was GREAT and item was delivered 3 days later. It is now 5 full days after the storm and we still have no power. This generator is supporting 2 refrigerators, 1 large freezer, 2 computers, about 6 lights, 3 corless phone bases, and allows us to charge our cell phones etc. We did also try adding on the basement dehumidifier but the surge after 30 min. shutdown everything until I unplugged the dehumidifier.

We do turn it off every night around 1AM because even though our neighbors are 3/4 acre away they too can't believe how loud it is. Lying in bed at night it sounds even louder than during the day :)... I cannot imagine anyone using this to support an RV in an RV campground. But for getting us through this Hurricane we are thrilled. I personally have been wearing my son's ear protection earmuffs for car racing just to give me some peace for a bit.

Built very sturdy - easy to fill - easy to wheel etc.

Hurricane Tested (Irene)
, August 30, 2011 By David L. Roberson (Norfolk VA)
(REAL NAME)

This unit powered 2 10,000 BTU window AC units, a television, HEPA filter and a humidifier without issue. The cords/plugs did not become hot. The carb was dirty and needed to be cleaned prior to use, but that is after the unit sat for a year with only occasionally being fired up and fuel "Stable" was used.

Let it run out of gas before your store it. Do not let it sit with fuel for beaucoup months unless you know how to clean a carb. I bought this from Amazon, shipped to LA after Katrina, then moved to NC and used the unit (and am continuing to use it as no power currently) for Irene. The fuel guage fell apart and I removed same from the tank and sealed it with duck tape until I analyze the problem. If the generator turns off, it's out of fuel!

It's louder than other generators, but that is why you point the muffler at your bad neighbor.

Good generator but need a few pull to start., April 8, 2010 By J. Sit
(REAL NAME)

This generator is Loud as the engine size is 389CC bigger than other with the same Wattage.

The noise is loud and need few pulls to start.

I bought this because the previous reviewer stated this is made in USA. However, the label so "MADE in China". Why pay more for a China made generator.

Works Well, January 27, 2010 By D. Carr
(REAL NAME)

I live in an area where the power goes out a lot and this thing comes in handy a lot. I've got it hooked up to my whole house and it handles everything (with exception of electric heat, A/C, or water heater). But if you have natural gas appliances then your good. I got this about a year ago and the only problem I have had is sometimes I gotta pull the starter cord 10-15 times to get it to start.

Easy to put together. starts right up. Used it for two storms one 7 days without power one without for 1 day. Nothing like seeing the neighborhood without power and you got the lights on, heat, TV, cold food and piece of mind. Very well built but the proof is in years of service, time will tell.

I can't say enough good thigs about my dealings with Amazon, I purchased a Generac 5623 8000 watt generator this past Monday the 31st after a freak snow storm left our area without power. I ordered it Monday morning and it was delivered Wednesday at 1:30 right to my front door, within minutes it was in place working. The transfer switch I also ordered was delivered Tuesday afternoon. The generator is working fine with no problems, I have powered my oil fired furnace, oil fired hot water, well, refrigerator and family room with no issues.

My wife can start this, September 7, 2011 By S. J. Laframboise (Massachusetts)

I trust the name brand, and plan on keeping up with the maintenance. My wife can start it, easily!

It's not for the job site, but looks like it could survive in one, the wheels seem somewhat cheap, but strong enough.

Overall excellent. I bought it and set it up and needed it the next day, amazing timing.

You will need to get a grounding cable to ground the chassis, which is nothing, but something I didn't know when I bought it.

No problems so far...
, September 1, 2011 By CAPS ON! (Eastern Seaboard)

I just received it yesterday. Took a few minutes to set up (attaching wheels, handles, adding oil and gas).

Started first pull. I tested all of the 120V sockets with a High Power drill and all seems fine. If I have any problems in the future, I will update this review.

Shipping company was right on time. Estimated between 10am & 2pm. Showed up at 10:05am. The two gentlemen were very courteous and placed it in the backyard for us (it weighs about 200lbs).

Let's see how it does in an emergency.

Great Buy, December 28, 2010 By Scot M

The generator started up right away and using my transfer switch I confirmed we'll be in great shape with any power loss. We lost power for 5 days in the Spring and I now feel confident we're in fine shape if/when that happens again.

Ran well from the start, December 28, 2010 By Dianne

We have tried this generator twice and it ran well each time. Easy to move and start. No problems with shipping

Generac 6500, October 10, 2010 By T. Adam

Minor assembly required (wheels...handles...adding oil) but relatively easy to complete. Out of the box, generator started with a couple of pulls and runs very smoothly. A little on the loud side, but not atypical for a portable generator. Have tested generator by hooking up to our house transfer switch and transferring the to gen power. Worked flawlessly and easily ran gas furnace blower...well pump...2 refrigerators and a couple light circuits. Thus far...nice machine.

Generac 5844 XG4000 4,000 Watt 220cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit (CARB Compliant)

Generac 5844 XG4000 4,000 Watt 220cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit (CARB Compliant) Description

Engineered for high performance, the professional-grade, CARB-compliant Generac XG4000 portable gas-powered generator (model 5844) is ideal for both residential and light commercial applications, providing a reliable 4,000-watt power supply wherever you need it and a maximum power output of 5,000 watts. The XG Series employs the Generac OHVI engine, which has a significantly longer life than competitive engines--up to an unprecedented three to four times longer.

Its compact design, smaller footprint, semi-solid, rally-style wheels and fold-down locking handles make this XG Series generator easier to transport. Additionally, its durable construction with oversized full-wrap frame tubing and impact resistant corners minimizes damage from rough handling. And all XG Series generators come with covered outlets for added protection from the environment and rugged working conditions, plus an hour meter to help track maintenance requirements.

Powerful, Long-Lasting OHVI Engine

The Generac OHVI (Overhead Valve Industrial) engine is the only engine designed specifically for generator use. Generators are often required to run for hours at a time, or even day after day. Engines adapted from other applications can overheat and may have shorter lifespans. It offers advanced heat reduction technology such as plateau-honed cylinders that lessen break-in time, plasma moly ring seals that help to keep excess oil out of the cylinder, and graphite piston inserts that provide a smoother surface for the piston to move against--all helping to contribute to a significantly longer engine life.

Maintenance costs are reduced with a spin-on automotive-style oil filter that's larger than a standard filter, catching more particles so oil stays cleaner for a longer amount of time. Service intervals are up to twice as long as competitive engines, approximately 2 years or 200 hours of operation.

Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances

The Generac XG4000 supplies 4,000 output watts and 5,000 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz.

For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric range tops. For construction and landscaping applications, it's enough to support devices such as trimmers, belt sanders, and circular saws. And for camping and outdoor events, it can run portable stereos, outdoor lights, and electric grills.

(Note: All appliances should be checked for actual wattage ratings.)

This generator's sturdy, 4.5-gallon steel tank ensures a full 13 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. You can monitor fuel levels at a glance with the tank's built-in fuel gauge, while the unique lighted Power Bar displays available wattage. Its 120-volt outlets are circuit-breaker protected, guarding against power overloads and allowing the generator to smoothly send power to your appliances.

This generator is backed by a two-year limited residential warranty (one-year warranty for commercial applications).

100% HAPPY WITH IT.

(REAL NAME)

The quality of this generator is way better than many of the others I have looked at in person. American made. I did find a wire disconnected that went to the on/off switch. I called customer service and a very nice young Lady sent me a PDF of the wiring diagram. I discovered the generator would have started, but would not have shut off as the sw applies a ground to the ign module. I verified the wires and plugged the wire in with no problems.
Also, take note. If you plan on making a double male ended extension cord (dangerous) and plugging it in to the 120V outlets to back feed your house, it will not work. It trips the GFI every time. Because on my house the Ground and nutral are tied together inside the breaker panel box. I do plan on using the 220V outlet to back feed my house using a generator inlet box in case of a long outage and I suspect this will work because the 220V outlet is not on a GFI.
I test ran the generator for about an hour with various loads and it worked flawlessly. It also did not seem to use much fuel. I purchase this one because it seemed to have an edge as far as fuel consumption (if you do the math).
I am 100% happy with this generator. It is full of stabilized fuel, covered and waiting for me when I need it to save the food in my refrigirator, freezer and to run a few lights and electronics.

Generac 4 kW generator, February 16, 2011 By C. Collins "Marvin" (Southern California)

I purchased this generator to replace one of a different brand which failed during a recent power failure. So far I am delighted with the Generac 4 kW replacement generator. It is a nice package size on wheels, easy to start, has good voltage regulation and not too noisy, 95 dB SPL at full load. 90 dB SPL with no load. Since purchasing this generator, there has not been another power failure during which I can give it a longer run under load. But my testing shows there should be no problem. Living in California required the purchase of a CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliant generator, which this one is.

Quiet, Well Made, August 25, 2010 By Been There "World Traveler" (San Francisco, CA USA)

Never having heard of Generac, we did some quick research before quickly ordering this. We were in a bind because our generator had just quit and we needed another one immediately. Being in California, there are restrictions on what kinds of generators one can buy. This one was made in the US, in Wisconsin. Being an Amazon Prime subscriber, I was able to get it delivered in one day. They air freighted it out of Tennessee and I got it the next day for just $3.99. On top of that, it was already on sale. The ease of purchase and delivery was amazing. But the quality was even more amazing. We'll probably buy only Generac's from now on. It was a bit difficult to find reasonable "generic" oil filters. The filters should be replaced every 50 hours, if I recollect correctly. But we finally located them online and ordered a half a dozen; just made sense with the shipping charges. This generator is quiet too. We have had it for a few months now and no problems at all.

Generac 5976 GP6500 8,000 Watt 389cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator (CARB Compliant)

Generac 5976 GP6500 8,000 Watt 389cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator (CARB Compliant) Description

Offering an even more compact frame for 2011, the Generac GP6500 portable gas-powered generator (model 5976) provides a reliable 6,500-watt power supply wherever you need it and a maximum power output of 8,000 watts. An OHV (overhead valve) engine delivers performance and power, while a sturdy steel-tube cradle protects the generator's exterior. For safe and comfortable use, the circuit-breaker outlets prevent power overloads, and the low-tone muffler makes for ultra quiet operation.

The Generac GP6500 now comes with covered outlets for added protection from the environment and rugged working conditions, plus an hour meter to help track maintenance requirements. And with its solid, never-flat wheels and ergonomic fold-down locking handle, transport and storage are quick and easy.

A Durable Power Supply Wherever You Need It

The Generac GP6500 is an ideal portable generator to have at home, on the job site, or wherever you need power. Its compact frame--28.75 x 26.75 x 25 inches (LxWxH)--is fitted with 9.5-inch solid, never-flat wheels and a fold-down handle, so it can easily accompany you wherever you go. And with its hardened steel-tube cradle, this rugged generator holds up well for frequent travel, allowing you to look forward to years of operation.

Thanks to its versatile design, this generator adds comfort and possibility to any situation. Use it to keep your family safe through unexpected blackouts, add some fun to a camping trip, or make your job faster and easier.

Powerful OHV Engine with Secure Shutdown

The Generac GP6500 is equipped with a powerful 389-cc OHV (overhead valve) engine, which features a low-oil shutdown system to prevent engine damage and keep your generator in good shape for long-term use. It also features splash lubrication and a high-performance alternator, ensuring that operation of your electrical devices is efficient and smooth.

Plus, this generator's sturdy, 7.2-gallon steel tank ensures a full 10 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. And with the tank's built-in fuel gauge, you can monitor fuel levels at a glance. Generac even provides you with your first supply of oil.
Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances

The Generac GP6500 supplies 6,500 output watts and 8,000 maximum watts (for start-up of devices).

Be ready for the next power outage, February 9, 2012 By Autobahn97

I purchased this in a bit of a knee jerk reaction to the several day long power outage in CT in late October 2012 and my wife yelling at me for not getting a generator after the 2 day power outage labor day 2012 (Hurricane). I did spend some time researching and quickly determined hat Generac had lots of good reviews out there and spends most of its efforts making generators for various applications and is focused on generators in general, even designing the motors to run for extended periods of time such as is common for a generator. I ordered this generator since I wanted minimally 6500W to power a deep well pump I have along with other essentials in my home. A fired has a 5500W mmodel taht he purchased at a big box storage and it didn't have the power to run his well pump and furnace at the same time so I knoew I needed at least a 6500W model. Amazon prime shipped it to me free 2 day service but of course the power came on about an hour before the generator arrived (Murphy's law).

Regardless I assembled the generator which was not damaged in any way via the private delivery van that brought it to my home. Assembly was easy since it's attaching the wheels & fold out carry arm which only required some basic tools. After that you add oil (included) and you are done. In my case I had a problem where the bolt pattern for the fold out arms mounting bracket didn't line up with the frame of the generator so only 1 bolt would attach the handle and it wasn't properly secured though functional. I think they send me the part for a larger model generator that maybe has a larger frame, larger handle, and larger handle mounting bracket. I called Generac and after on hold for awhile I spoke with a friendly rep that after some time found the part and shipped it to me at no charge. Now the part took nearly 2 weeks to arrive and when it arrived I was disappointed that they sent the handle and not the handle mounting bracket. I called back and this time was quickly connected to a rep. I asked if there was a way that I could view the same schematics that she was looking at for the generator and she directed me to a PDF doc out on the Generac website. Looking at it together we quickly identified the correct part and they shipped it out to me at no charge so now I'm all set and everything fits properly.

Even though working through the wrong part issue I was still able to test run the generator. I was surprised and delighted that it started on the second pull (assuming first pull primed the engine since it was dry). I plugged in a few things and they worked so it seems to be working. The next day I showed my wife how to start the generator and she managed to pull start it on the second pull too. Initially I wanted to get an electric start variant but they were sold out when I was shopping. Having the generator start twice very easily makes not having the electric start feature sit better with me since the electric start models were sold out when I was shopping. Also the electric start requires that you keep the battery charged so you would need to plug it in to charge as you head into weather that may potentially take out your power. Once I have a transfer switch installed (electricians in CT are very much backed up with folks installing transfer switches right now) I plan to run my home for 8 hours on generator to break in the new generator then change the oil in it as per break in maintenance in users manual.

A few things about this generator...
1. It's 6500W model and has a 30Amp output (27Amp actually is the spec I think) so you need a heavier and more expensive 10 gauge cable to connect it to your home as this generator doesn't include ANY cables. I purchased a high quality yellow jacket generator cable from Amazon and my electrician was impressed with the quality of the cable.
2. read the manual (I know its tough for guys). There is some good info on breaking in the motor and information about cutting off fuel when stored for extended periods of time (in short don't keep gas in it).
3. Generac is based in and built in Wisconsin in the USA - not China or other places were Americans are not employed. This is why its more expensive than some big box options out there that are made overseas. Generac's customer service (or the folks I spoke with) are also in Wisconsin USA. They speak English very well and are friendly and knowledgeable. I commend Generac for making a high quality product in the USA and also supporting with USA based resources.

If you are looking for a good quality generator Generac is a solid option and stands behind their product and I have no hesitations recommending them based on my experience thus far.

too easy, December 7, 2011 By sherman pridham

I purchased the Generac portable generator on-line from Amazon because I was offered interest free payments. Easy, right? AFTER I was approved for purchase, Amazon's Bank emailed that I had gone over my credit limit at Amazon and. I have been a very faithful customer with Amazon for years, and never missed a payment, been late, defaulted, etc. I had not given my credit limit much thought until I got a confusing form email from Amazon's Bank (GE Capital Bank). I was told that I must take care of this issue within three days or the order would be cancelled. I was, in short, treated very poorly and trying to get redress of the problem was like a scene out of Monty Python, except there was no humor. Amazon is easy to order from, but very difficult to contact if there are any issues about payment. Be careful when ordering any item that comes interest free. If the deal sounds easy, you will find out it is not. GE Capital Bank is horrible to TRY to deal with. Amazon needs to take responsibility for the horrible customer service from the bank it chose to handle its credit transactions.

Generac 5802 XG10000E 10,000 Watt 530cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit & Electric Start

Generac 5802 XG10000E 10,000 Watt 530cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit & Electric Start Description

Engineered for high performance, the professional-grade Generac XG10000E portable gas-powered generator (model 5802) is ideal for both residential and light commercial applications, providing a reliable 10,000-watt power supply wherever you need it and a maximum power output of 12,500 watts. The XG Series employs the Generac OHVI engine, which has a significantly longer life than competitive engines--up to an unprecedented three to four times longer. And this XG10000E model comes with an easy electric start integrated into the control panel.

The Generac XG10000E supplies 10,000 output watts and 12,500 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz.

For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric stoves, as well as window A/C units and sump pumps. Great Generator, January 27, 2012 By Dustin Madden

Fairly easy to put together, the battery was a little bit of a pain to reach. I ended up taking it out so I had room to work. Added gas and oil and she started right up first try. The instructions where easy to understand. It also came with a quick setup guide that had everything you need to do for those who don't like reading the manual.

Works great - actually using it as I write this review, January 19, 2012 By JH "flyinglow" (Seattle)

I purchased the 10K watt unit to ensure that I could power pretty much all of my appliances and furnace along with enough to spare for some lighting around the house.

This is my first real run with the unit. Our power went out as a result of the Seattle snow/ice storm.

So far so good! Easy to setup, easy to start and it fits nice in the corner of my garage when not in use.

It is everything that was promised, February 21, 2011 By Superturbo

Assembly was fast and easy; by the book. It came with 2 quarts of oil, an extra oil filter, an extra air filter, an extra spark plug, a spark plug wrench, a battery charger and fuel stabilizer. The electric start works great. The pull start will start the engine after 3 pulls. The frame is well built. It is very easy to move around. I haven't burned a full tank of fuel yet, but so far everything meets my expectations. I bought this generator to power 3 refrigerator/freezer units and my gas furnance fan. The generator noise isn't offensive but it isn't quiet either. Delivery was 1 day earlier than the estimated delivery date. If the hours per gallon were a little more and the generator was a little quieter, I would give it 5 stars.

Great portable machine, November 8, 2011 By CJMeier

This is an outstanding product that was just put to the test last week. I was able to power my essentials (2 Fridges, lights, furnace, well pump, sump pump, tv, dvd, 2 cooking plates, crock pot, and my neighbors furnance, and never exceeded 50% load. We usually ran at 20% making my effeciency much higher. I actually got 20 hour run times on one tank of gas (9 gallons). The only time I stopped running this machine was to fill it with gas, and change the oil. This is a great, reliable, effecient, reliable, powerful, reliable unit. Did I mention it was reliable?

Generac 5735 GP17500E 26,250 Watt 992cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator With Electric Start

Generac 5735 GP17500E 26,250 Watt 992cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator With Electric Start Description

Featuring a compact, wheeled frame for easy transport, the Generac 17,500-Watt Portable Gas-Powered Generator with Electric Start provides a reliable power supply wherever you need it.

A Durable Power Supply Wherever You Need It
The Generac 17,500-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal portable generator to have at home, on the job site, or wherever you need power. Its compact frame--48.5 x 31 x 39.5 inches (LxWxH)--is fitted with lifting eye handles and pneumatic, all-terrain wheels for easy portability. And with its hardened steel-tube cradle, this rugged generator holds up well for frequent travel, allowing you to look forward to years of operation. Plus, this model features an electric ignition for fast, easy start-up.

Thanks to its versatile design, this generator adds comfort and possibility to any situation. Use it to keep your family safe through unexpected blackouts or make construction jobs faster and easier.

A Low-Maintenance, High-Performance OHVI Engine
Designed specifically for generators, the Generac 17,500-Watt Generator with Electric Start's heavy-duty 992-cc OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine boasts a host of features. An exclusive X-Torq governor maximizes the engine's performance to keep it running without stalls. And so engine components continue moving smoothly, a pressurized lubrication system sends oil directly to critical areas.

Plus, this generator's sturdy, 16-gallon resin tank ensures a full 10 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. The automatic-idle control reduces fuel usage and noise, while the tank's built-in fuel gauge lets you monitor fuel levels at a glance. Generac even provides you with your first supply of oil.

Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances
The most heavy-duty of Generac's GP model generators, the Generac 17,500-Watt Generator with Electric Start supplies 17,500 output watts and 26,250 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz.

For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric stoves, as well as air conditioning systems and sump pumps. (A manual transfer switch is required to connect to air conditioning systems.) For construction and landscaping applications, it's enough to support large devices such as lawn mowers, belt sanders, and table saws. And for camping and outdoor events, it can run portable stereos, outdoor lights, and electric grills.

(Note: All appliances should be checked for actual wattage ratings.)

Safe, Quiet Operation with Overload-Protected Outlets
If security and quiet operation are important to you in a generator, then the Generac 17,500-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal choice. Its outlets (two 120-volt, two 120-volt GFCI, one 120-volt 30 Amp twist lock, one 120/240-volt 50 Amp, and one 12 VDC battery charger) are circuit-breaker protected, guarding against power overloads and allowing the generator to smoothly send power to your appliances. And the low-tone muffler means the generator runs at a comfortable noise level that easily blends into the background.

This generator is backed by a two-year limited warranty.

Generator requires a straight NEMA 14-50R plug to use the retaining clip Generac provides (outlet is on the bottom on 17500 watt model, gravity pulls out my 90 degree plug and 6-4 wire), common plugs are 90 degrees. No 17500 watt or 70 amp connection available, 50 amp and 30 amp outlets only-they cannot be connected for full output. Per Generac technical support, converting to natural gas or propane voids the warranty. Exhaust shroud and spark arrestor both resonate at full power, quite noisy. Will build an enclosure to dampen noise and since it cannot get wet during use.

Generator runs well and has been adequate for 240V 30A welding.

Once I assembled the generator (took about an hour), it looks impressive. Even thought it weights almost 400lbs, it is well balanced and is easy to move around with the large handle and wheels. After servicing the motor with the provided oil and fresh gasoline, the generator was no problem to start. After running for a few minutes, the motor developed a surging problem which I think can be adjusted out with some technical advice.

Generac 17,500 watt portable generator, August 29, 2010 By  Tractor Boy
The generator was easy to assemble, started right up after filling oil reservoir and fueling. I haven't had a power outage yet since getting this generator (go figure). The only drawback I've seen (so far) is the information provided on the available plug receptacles is rather weak. The 50 amp plug is located underneath the panel face where all the other plug receptacles are located. It has a wire "latch hook" to keep the plug from falling out, but no info on how to properly use it. I had difficuly locating the correct male plug with a "straight" out feature since most are 90 degrees. It would have been nice to have the male plug-end supplied with the generator. I finally found one at Grainger (cost over one hundred bucks, but it's top notch). Although the muffler assembly is impressive looking, it's not quite as quiet as I expected.
